WEM contributed fundraising and event planning talent for a variety of activities with OFA during the 2008 and 2012 Presidential Campaigns including several, high-profile campaign fundraisers with President Obama in Boston. As a member of OFA’s New England Steering Committee, Kim recruited and managed the top fundraising team for President Obama’s appearance at Symphony Hall Boston in June 2012. As tribute to her efforts, Kim was invited to represent the finance team and rally campaign support by speaking to donors from the stage to begin the program. The program also included presentations by Boston Mayor Tom Menino, Governor Deval Patrick and Senator Elizabeth Warren. More than 2,500 people were in attendance at Symphony Hall and the event raised more than $1 million for the Campaign.
Kim also worked with the New England advance team during the 2008 campaign for then-Senator Obama including assistance at rallies with Oprah Winfrey in Manchester NH, Senator Ted Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy at the World Trade Center Boston. Later, Kim ran her own successful campaign and was elected to serve as an Obama delegate to the 2008 Democratic Convention in Denver.
